Safety Audits

At Business Safety Systems we provide a comprehensive Health and Safety auditing service carried out by our professional consultants , who are all members of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and have experience in a wide range of working environments.

Our ‘Premier Safety Audit’ has been designed to provide a full independent examination of an organisation’s systems for Health and Safety management, to highlight relevant areas of strength and weakness.

The final outcome of the audit is a comprehensive report containing a series of scored audit results across a range of selected key areas, that provides a clear quantified measure of compliance against required standards and best practice.

This report can be used to form the basis of a Management Action Plan, to help the organisation to achieve best practice in relation to Health and Safety management.

The system allows organisations to meet their legal obligations under Regulation 5 of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, which requires employers to ‘monitor and review the protective measures put in place for Health and Safety at work’.

The report can also be used to form the basis of an annual report to the Board of Directors or Shareholders on the risks affecting the organisation and the plans in place to eliminate or reduce them, as required under Corporate Governance. The system is evaluated using national standards which allows the organisations, who are achieving acceptable levels, to apply to the Association of Risk Management for an award under the ARM Award Scheme.

The key areas that are covered within the audit include:

  1. Structural and environmental issues

  2. Safety organisation and systems

  3. Storage systems and procedures

  4. Traffic management

  5. Mechanical and electrical equipment

  6. Fire protection and prevention

  7. Working at height issues

  8. Manual handling and ergonomics

  9. Personal safety

  10. Storage and use of chemicals

  11. Provision, suitability and maintenance of PPE

  12. Display screen equipment

  13. Accident and incident reporting/investigation

As well as providing a quantifiable measure of compliance in each of the selected areas the report also highlights successes and opportunities for further improvements.

By using our Premier Safety Audit service, organisations will be able to identify areas of high risk within their operations and thereby reduce their potential losses.
